August 26th- Finally home and able to rest a little after the trip so I will take this to fully Recap the Trip (further than yesterday)
States Visited: 23- Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
To be continued…
August 24th- Mount Rushmore was way cooler than expected and we took a bunch of pictures of it lit up (even though this photo is from last night, we spent all day driving through South Dakota there was nothing cooler than Mount Rushmore we saw in the state); arrived in South Bend late at night just in time to go to bed. Drove 1,045 miles in about 15 hours.
August 23rd- Went to Glacier National park in the morning and drove up to the Continental Divide at Logan’s Pass where the clouds were moving so fast that when I would take a picture of a mountain I would check the picture and when I looked back up the mountain would be gone; saw a bighorn ram in the parking lot before it ran off into the valley; drove through the entire state of Montana crossing through Wyoming and into South Dakota where we made it in time to see Mount Rushmore lit up at night.
August 17th- Went back to San Diego with my cousins and hurried to the beach before it got dark where we swam with leopard sharks at the beach in La Jolla, which despite being 4 to 5 feet long and pretty imposing we were promised were harmless; finally got some fish tacos at Wahoo’s and then headed back to La Jolla to meet up with Vtine to see his house and got to a bar/coffeehouse.
August 15th- Woke up to the Sunrise on Lake Powell set to The Polyphonic Spree singing “Sunnnnnnnnnnn!” right as the sun peaked over the mountains; drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and stood in awe for an hour or so and then continued onto Zion National Park in Utah and to Las Vegas where we decided to wait until nighttime to see the city lit up so we first went to the Hoover Dam and then drove up and down the strip once it got dark out.
August 14th- Drove through the San Juan National Forest on the and happened upon a great scenic overlook of the valley right in the middle of a huge switchback on HIghway 160 to Pagosa Springs, where we got lunch with my cousin Matt; drove through the rest of southwest Colorado and through the Four Corners, aka the lamest tourist trap ever; ended up making it to Lake Powell right on the Arizona-Utah border and camped out there for the night.
